COMPETING ONLINE WITH TRSIM & BARRELSIMTABLE OF CONTENTSFairness and chances of winning OVERVIEWThe TRSim and BarrelSim games are realistic 3D computer video games played on your personal computer. The www.ropingarena.com and www.barrelarena.com websites allow you to enter TRSim and BarrelSim events online and compete in those events via the internet using your valid copies of the games. You still make the runs on your personal computer but the times are uploaded to the website. This allows realistic competition just like a real Team Roping, Barrel Racing, or Pole Bending event. You enter events using an Entry Subscription or Entry Credits. You are given a small number of Entry Credits when you create an account. When you run out of Entry Credits you can purchase an Entry Subscription or more Entry Credits online at a very economical price. You earn Points by placing in Events. Events have many different variations and are constantly occurring. The competition is clean, fun, unpredictable, and most of all, realistic. HOW TO COMPETE1. For Barrel Racing and Pole Bending all you need is a valid license of BarrelSim. For Team Roping you need to download either the TRSim Bonus extension to your TRSim game CD or the TRSim Limited version if you don't yet have the TRSim game CD. Both the TRSim extension and the Limited version are free.Click here to download the TRSim Bonus extension. This free extension is available to all licensed owners of the TRSim game. It requires that you have a valid copy of TRSim installed on your computer. It allows you to play the game on your personal computer and transfers your run results automatically to the RopingArena.com server. It also has the added benefit of allowing you to play the TRSim game offline using the ArenaPacks which you also download from this site. 2. Create a login account or login using your Screen Name and PasswordThis will require you to give some basic information such as your birthdate, your Screen Name, your email address, and other contact information. If you are a child under the age of 13, less information is required and you must have a parent create the account for you. Click here to learn more about our privacy policy. Click here to create a login account. Each new account is given a starting number of Entry Credits which you use to enter events. Entry Credits are equally valid for Team Roping, Barrel Racing, or Pole Bending events. You can view your account details by clicking on the appropriate links on the left side of the page. You can also modify your account details as needed. 3. Enter one or more of the competition eventsNow that you are logged in, click the ‘Enter TRSim Events’ link on the left side of the website (or BarrelSim Events as appropriate). This will bring up all the events which you are able to enter at that point in time. Events have different criteria for entering such as your age and your Rating. Only the events which you qualify for will be displayed. Click the ‘Enter’ button for the event or events you wish to enter. You can enter any number of events. You use your Entry Subscription or your Entry Credits to enter events. Many events only require one credit while others can require much more. Events which require a higher number of Entry Credits generally reward winners with a prize and/or a higher number of points. Entry Subscriptions allow you to enter an unlimited number of events as long as your subscription is current. Many events will let you enter more than once. In that case, each entry is tracked individually. You can use this feature to give yourself more opportunity to win or to allow multiple members of the same family to compete in the same event even if they only have one account. 4. Start your game applicationFor TRSim players, start the TRSim Bonus application or the TRSim Limited application on your personal computer. For BarrelSim players, start BarrelSim. Click the button titled “Compete Online”. A new window will appear which will allow you to type in your Screen Name and Password. Use the exact same Screen Name and Password which you used to create your account on the RopingArena.com/BarrelArena.com website. Click the ‘Connect and Compete’ button. The application will automatically connect to the website, verify your Screen Name, and fetch the events in which you have entered and are able to compete at that time. 5. Select the event in which you want to competeAs mentioned previously, the application will automatically fetch the events in which you are entered and are able to compete at that date and time. A window will appear allowing you to select which event to make a run for. If you are entered in an event more then once, you will see each separate entry and can choose the event to compete in next. You make your runs one at a time. It does not matter the order in which you make the runs. Remember that you can only compete in the events after their Start time and before their End time (Mountain time zone). Any runs submitted after the advertised End time will be automatically forfeited for that event. 6. Click the “Compete” button and make your runAfter selecting the event in which you want to make a run, click the “Compete” button. This will take you to the simulation environment just like when playing the game for fun. If the event uses a different arena than what you already have installed, it will download the new Arena and install it for you. Click “Continue” when you are ready which will start the simulation. It will automatically bring up the Arena for that particular event. You make your run using the same controls you use in the game. In TRSim, you will notice that you cannot quit a run after you have called for your steer by opening the gate. Once the gate is opened, your actual time from finishing the run or 50 seconds (same as miss) will be transferred to RopingArena.com for your run. In BarrelSim, it will let you quit the run but then a time of 50 seconds is automatically uploaded for your time. The simulation will automatically close and you may still need to wait a few seconds while the time is being transmitted. You will then be invited to make more runs in the same event if applicable or to switch to another event. 7. Check the event results back at the websiteIf your browser window for www.RopingArena.com or www.BarrelArena.com is still open you may navigate the “Current Events” link or the “My Entered Events” link to see if you are among the leaders in the event. After the event has ended, you can click the “Past Events” link to see the winners. 8. Enter more events and repeat the processThis same process is used to allow you to compete in numerous events. You can view the “Rankings” to see if you are in the top standings of any of the different categories. VARIATIONS IN EVENTSEach event has at least the following variations: · ·
Entry deadline – Mountain time zone. You can enter the event up to but not after
this time. Some events will require you
to pre-enter meaning you can only enter prior to the start of the event. Others will allow you to enter up to an hour
before the end of the event. ·
Start and End dates/times – Mountain time
zone. All date and times are adhered to
down to the second with no exceptions.
During these times is the only time in which you can make runs. Remember that the website traffic will be
slower closer to the end of an event due to the increased traffic. So it is wise to make sure your runs are
finished and submitted well in advance of the end time. · Event type – FastTime, Average, AverageDrop1, AverageDrop2, or AverageDrop3 · Number of runs – In the case of FastTime events, this is the number of runs you make to try to get the fastest time overall. Any misses or slow times don’t count against you. In the case of the Average events, this is the number of runs which are all added together. The AverageDropN events will automatically drop the specified number of slowest runs and adding up the rest. · ArenaPack – Each event will specify the Arena which will be used. · Maximum entries for Player – The maximum number of times a single Screen Name can enter this event. Each entry is then tracked separately and individually. · Maximum entries total – The maximum number of total entries in order to keep an event smaller. · Entry cost – The number of Entry Credits which will be deducted from your account unless you have a current Entry Subscription. If you have a current Entry Subscription, your Entry Credit account will remain unchanged. · TRSim level (TRSim only) – Level 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 for this event. These are the exact same levels from the TRSim game. Each level requires different control by the user. · Rating – All players start out at a Rating of 1. Based on your winnings you will be automatically bumped up to a higher level. If you have competed in events at the higher level and have not won you will be automatically lowered. The maximum Rating is 10. Many events will be focused to a particular rating number. This allows all players a very good chance of winning which is the goal of this site. · Minimum and Maximum ages – This allows players of the same age to compete against each other. · Minimum final purse – The minimum amount of points which will be in the final purse (for Average winners) regardless of the number of entries. Entry Credits, or their equivalent since many entries will be from Subscriptions, of all entries constitute the purse which is payable in points according to the payout schedule. If the total quantity of Entry Credits exceeds this minimum then that will be the purse. · % of Purse for Runs – This is the percentage of the total purse points which will be in the “per run” purse similar to a go-round purse in a live Event. · Final payout schedule – This specifies the number of places to be paid in the final Average and the percentage to be paid to each position. For example, 4: 40-30-20-10 signifies that there will be 4 places paid, 1st place will get 40% of the purse, 2nd will get 30%, and so forth. ·
Run payout schedule – This specifies the number
of places to be paid for each run (go-round) and the percentage to be paid to
each position. The format is described
above. ENTRY CREDITSEach player has an Entry Subscription expiration date or a virtual bank account of Entry Credits. If you have a current Entry Subscription, you can enter as many events as you wish up to the limit of each event. If you have Entry Credits, you can selectively enter events as you choose up until your Credits run out. Entry Subscriptions are more economical. Some very large promotional events such as the year-end finals may require Entry Credits only. If your Entry Subscription has expired, or you have depleted your Entry Credits and wish to purchase more, you can do so by clicking the Purchase Credits link. The whole idea with the Entry Subscriptions and Entry Credits is to help pay for the site and any prizes which may be given away. It is designed that you can definitely get your money’s worth by competing in many events for a relatively low cost. If for example you purchase $10 worth of credits, we want you to get much more entertainment value for your dollar than say attending a movie. Entry Credits and Entry Subscriptions are not transferable and are not refundable. In the case that a player is denied access
to the site due to conduct, their credits are forfeited. POINTSPoints are non-monetary, non-cash-value units which are given as reward for placing in events. Each player starts out with zero points. As the player places in events, the points won are recorded. Points are used for ranking players in the world standings. RANKINGSWorld standings will be tracked in different categories such as Rating and State. They are also able to be viewed for different time intervals. ARENAPACKSArenaPacks are special arenas which give variation to the events. They are in different sizes, score-lengths, and surroundings. If an event calls for a special Arena, the application will first check to see if it is present on your personal computer. If it is not present, it will attempt to automatically download the Arena for you. It will then step you through the installer for the Arena. Some browser configurations will not allow the automatic downloading of the Arena. In that case, open up a browser and enter the address www.rodeosoftware.com/arenapacks.htm to download the Arena yourself. ArenaPacks can also be played in the TRSim Bonus application (not TRSim Limited) or the BarrelSim application without being in a competition. This allows you to practice in different conditions. It also allows you to hold your own Average events on your own computer. FAIRNESS AND CHANCES OF WINNINGThe event competition is based on skill and, other than individual skill and expertise, each contestant has equal chances of winning an event. We have taken many precautions to ensure that no cheating or tampering can take place. In the event that anyone attempts to cheat, their account will be automatically closed. As happens in live Events, accidents and unforeseen events can occur which can affect the chances of winning for individual players. In such cases, we reserve the right to let the event proceed without changes or to forfeit all times submitted for the event. In other words, we will run the event according to general rules of fairness and reserve that right. Players should remember that, in the end, this is merely a game. Your internect connection speed will not affect your chances of winning. The speed of your computer will not affect your chances as long as the graphics are fast enough to keep up with the play of the game. RULES OF CONDUCTThis site is intended for all ages. It will be traced and monitored to ensure clean family fun. Screen Names will be monitored for obscene or questionable words. In the event a player has done anything questionable on the site they will be denied access and their account closed. If anyone suspects another player of doing anything questionable, please send an email to support@ropingarena.com.
